How HVAC UV lights work
A UV lamp is mounted inside the system near the coil. The light runs continuously and helps limit mold and bacteria growth on the surfaces it reaches. It pairs well with a duct cleaning: clean the system first, then help keep it that way.

Questions we hear
Does a UV light replace duct cleaning?
No. A UV light helps keep the coil and air handler cleaner going forward; it does not remove the dust already sitting in the ducts. Most customers do both.
Where is the UV light installed?
Inside the air handler, aimed at the evaporator coil where moisture and biological growth build up.
How long does the bulb last?
Most bulbs are rated for about a year of continuous use. We can remind you when it is due.
Is it worth it in San Antonio?
Our humidity keeps the coil wet for months at a time, which is exactly the condition a UV light is designed for.
